July 11, 1968 marked a decisive turning point in the world of manga, when Shūeisha launched Weekly Shōnen Jump. This pre-publication magazine would go on to become internationally renowned thanks to masterpiece titles such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, and more recently, Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia, which have captured the hearts of otakus around the world.
But what exactly is a pre-publication magazine?
These are manga series that regularly publish chapters from various mangaka, like a gallery showcasing the talents of mangakas of the nation. These imposing magazines, ranging in size from 300 to 800 A4 pages, contain on average 16 to 20 chapters of several different mangas, skilfully mixing one-shots with long or short series, offering readers a rich and diverse range of captivating stories.
